Huashan 1914 Creative Park

Huashan 1914 Creative Park

Huashan 1914 Creative Park was originally the Taipei Wine Factory, which was established in 1914 during Japanese rule of Taiwan as a sake production facility. It later became the Taipei Winery and is now designated as a historic site by the Taipei City Government.

The area was originally known during the Qing Dynasty as Sanbanqiaozhuang Dazhuwei. In 1922, the Japanese colonial government abolished old street and village names in Taipei and renamed the area “Kabayama-cho.”The name “Kabayama” was taken from Kabayama Sukenori, the first Governor-General of Taiwan under Japanese rule. At the time, the area included major government facilities such as the Taipei City Hall (now the site of the Executive Yuan), Kabayama Freight Station, and the Taipei Wine Factory, and was a zone developed under Japanese-era urban planning.During the Nationalist government period, “Kabayama” was renamed “Huashan,” a name that continues to be used today.
